The DNS Record Inspector API is a powerful tool designed for real-time DNS record queries across any domain and record type. Tailored for developers, network administrators, and cybersecurity experts, it delivers fast, accurate, and detailed insights into a domain’s DNS configuration and status.
With a single request, you can retrieve extensive information on various DNS records, including:
A, AAAA, CNAME, NS, SOA, MX, SRV, TXT, CAA, NAPTR, PTR, HINFO, and A6.
This broad coverage enables you to validate email setups, monitor DNS propagation, enforce security policies like CAA, and much more.
To use this endpoint you must indicate a domain and a record type in the parameters.

The API returns detailed DNS record information for specified domains and record types, including A, AAAA, CNAME, NS, SOA, MX, SRV, TXT, CAA, NAPTR, PTR, HINFO, and A6 records. Each response includes relevant details about the queried record type.
Key fields in the response include the record type, domain name, TTL (Time to Live), and the record value. For example, an A record response will show the IP address associated with the domain.
The response data is structured in a JSON format, with each record type represented as an object containing fields like "type," "name," "ttl," and "data." This organization allows for easy parsing and utilization of the information.
The GET DNS Data endpoint requires two parameters: "domain" (the domain name to query) and "record_type" (the type of DNS record to retrieve). Users must specify valid record types from the supported list.
Typical use cases include validating email configurations (MX records), monitoring DNS propagation (NS records), and enforcing security policies (CAA records). Developers and network administrators can leverage this data for troubleshooting and optimization.
Data accuracy is maintained through real-time queries to authoritative DNS servers. The API ensures that the information retrieved reflects the current state of DNS records, providing reliable insights for users.
Users can utilize the returned data by analyzing the specific fields relevant to their needs. For instance, checking the TTL value can help in understanding how long DNS records are cached, while the record value can be used for configuration or troubleshooting.
Standard data patterns include consistent formatting of record types and values. For example, A records will always return an IP address, while TXT records may contain strings of text. Users should expect structured responses that align with the specified record type.

The free trial ends when you reach 50 API requests or after 7 days, whichever comes first.
No, the free trial is available only once, so we recommend using it on the API that interests you the most. Most of our APIs offer a free trial, but some may not include this option.
Yes, we offer a 7-day free trial that allows you to make up to 50 API calls at no cost, so you can test our APIs without any commitment.
